This photo is over 100 years old and it was taken because the two men in uniform were going off to WW1. They were my Great Uncles Jack and George Lucas. Also pictured, my Great Grandparents, Grandmother Doris Lucas (standing), and Great Aunt Rose Lucas (sitting on her mothers lap) and Great Uncle Jim (small boy standing). George was killed in action aged just 17.

Rebekah Sidwell


This is my great great grandad Thomas Webb. He lived and worked on the canals up and down the country delivering coal and fuel. He travelled on the grand union canal a lot and the butty he worked on “the president” is in the Black Country Museum. As we have such a beautiful canal system through Birmingham I feel it would be great to honour the many families, hard working men and women who worked the canals. It is a part of my heritage I feel proud of and I am grateful to have the love of canals passed down through the generations.

This photo is of my Nan, Grandad and Mom when she was younger. My Grandad had moved from Ireland at this point to Birmingham and lived with my Nan. He married my Nan is Shropshire but they moved to Birmingham and had three children. My Grandad is now 87 and my Nan is now 79. They still live in Birmingham and this photo is known for my Grandad apparently saying he looks like James Bond.

The last seaside picture is mum Joan Williams and myself Dawn Corfield taken on holiday in Llandudno Wales. This is the holiday where I cried at Punch and Judy on the prom. I still don’t like them!!

My Mom Margo is the child on the right, my Aunty Carol the child in the middle and their cousin Lesley is on the left. My grandmother Betty Biddle is the lady on the right and her sister Margaret Carpmail (Aunty Peach) is on the left. In the middle is my great-grandmother Edith Jackson. At the time this picture was taken my great-grandmother lived on Merrivale Road in Smethwick where my Nan grew up. My Nan lived with her husband Ernie (who with Mr Webb set up the auction house Biddle and Webb) and her daughters in Erdington.
