Me and my siblings tried to do an arty photo for my mums 48th! We did this in Cannon Hill Park when I lived in Selly Park! We used the park that runs along the river on the way to dog pool lane.

Me and my four siblings, one of my Cousins, my Parents and two sets of my Aunties and Uncles, all sat down the steps at our Auntie’s garden in Hollywood, Birmingham. My Mom was one of seven siblings and my Dad was an only child, who had five children together, so all my family memories are noisy, busy and loud, much like the Madness song ‘Our House’. This photo shows us during a gathering, I was only 3/4ish so can’t recall whether it was someone’s birthday, an anniversary or just a Sunday lunch, but we all have many memories like this. A family get together was always loud and fun and we’d end up rolling home long after dark, with a ‘doggy bag’ of leftover food, nodding off as the lights tunnels of Birmingham flew by.

My mother Bridget came to Birmingham from Limerick in Ireland in 1951 when she was 18. She was visiting her Sister and then met my Dad, Peter. She’s still with us aged 89, Dad passed in 2019. This is one of their wedding photos. My Dad was the first generation to be born in Birmingham as his parents were from Stockport (Granddad) and Stafford. Although Nan was born in Kingston upon Thames. My Mothers oldest Brother gave her away as their Father died in 1945.
Parents Bridget (Breda) and Peter Tams, paternal Grandparents Frederick and Elsie Tams, maternal Grandmother Bridget (Bridie) Gleeson and moms brother Patrick Gleeson. The 2 younger bridesmaids were dads cousins Ann Richards and Sheila Godwin from Stafford. Chief bridesmaid Miss Marion Boylan and Mr Ken Lovell was best man.

This is a picture from my Grandparent's wedding on 2nd Oct 1915 at St Oswalds Church, Small Heath, Birmingham.
My grandfather (the groom) was born in 1888, Stamford Road, Handsworth, with my grandmother (the bride) being born in 1892, Denbigh Street, Small Heath. The lady in the hat (next to the groom) is my great-grandmother who had three children out of wedlock before 1900, my grandfather being one of them. Next to my great-grandmother is the bride's brother (born 1882). Next to the bride is the groom's sister, born in 1898, Westminster Road, Handsworth - also one of the illegitimate children. Next to the groom's sister is the bride's father, born in 1857, Leicester. By the time of the wedding it is said that the other illegitimate child, born 1886, Ladywood Road, Birmingham had found out he was illegitimate and emigrated to Canada in 1912, so missed the wedding. I do not know who the four children at the front are.
