The 1st photo is of Katherine (Katy) and myself on her 2nd Birthday. It was taken just before the guests arrived for her party, at our home, 65 Southgate Road, Great Barr. The 2nd photo was also taken in our Southgate Road home and shows Mom (Jean Gunter) holding Katy at the party which followed her Christening, which took place at St Matthews Church, Perry Beeches.

The first one is my dad he is about 6 and that was in the back garden (my nan still lives in the house). The picture next to it is my brother (his son), in our back garden roughly 15 months old, holding a football. The bottom right picture is my dad holding my son the day he was born. I am his first child and that was mine.

Kathryn Mann


Me and my four siblings, one of my Cousins, my Parents and two sets of my Aunties and Uncles, all sat down the steps at our Auntie’s garden in Hollywood, Birmingham. My Mom was one of seven siblings and my Dad was an only child, who had five children together, so all my family memories are noisy, busy and loud, much like the Madness song ‘Our House’. This photo shows us during a gathering, I was only 3/4ish so can’t recall whether it was someone’s birthday, an anniversary or just a Sunday lunch, but we all have many memories like this. A family get together was always loud and fun and we’d end up rolling home long after dark, with a ‘doggy bag’ of leftover food, nodding off as the lights tunnels of Birmingham flew by.
