Date(s)
20th November 2013
Location
Library of Birmingham, Birmingham
Gallerist Nathaniel Pitt in conversation with the collector and successful business person Donall Curtin.
Meeting Room 101 (first floor) The Library of Birmingham
6-8pm
An informal discussion about selling and buying art. Why choose photography? How and why do collectors start collections? What is the importance of public archives, exhibitions and commissions in relation to a private collector’s decisions and motives, where do these worlds intersect?
This event is for anyone with an interest in photography especially those interested in starting their own collection. For artists it is useful to see how working with a gallery can help find patrons for their practice and for curators and institutions it is interesting to learn how private collectors loan work and commission new work in a different context.
