Vered Lahav: The Garden
Date(s)
21st September 2013 - 17th November 2013
Location
mac, Birmingham
With its affinity to western mythology – a place of vision, of rebirth and death, a land of innocence and forbidden ways – the garden is an idyllic place detached from the realities of the everyday. Yet it can also be considered as a place of confinement from knowledge and awareness. Through sculpture, video, drawing and photography, Lahav plays upon the notion of the ‘garden’ to explore conflicting issues around gender, identity, relationships and migration.
The Garden is the latest chapter in the artist’s work – the next instalment in a body of work which is enduring in its exploration of environments and inhabitants, and the moments between that transpire, linger and then fade.

Exhibition commissioned and produced by mac birmingham. Supported by The University of Derby and Arts Council England.
