Some Cities – Introduction to Digital Photography

This workshop is an ideal introduction to those using their digital cameras for the first time but also as a refersher for more experienced participants of the Documentary Practice Workshops keen to familiarise themselves with the features of their DSLR camera once more.
The workshop is designed to look at – Knowing your camera – Using your camera – Editing your photographs.
In three sessions – compactly set out over two weeks – you will produce a series of images on location with the course leaders.
Session 1. Understand Your Camera – Jan Weds 14th 2015 19:00 – 21:00
The day will start with a brief introduction to the history of photography. You will be introduced to camera controls and settings (aperture, shutter speed, ISO, focal length, white balance, image perspective and framing) and the impact they have on your image making.
Session 2. Day Out – Photography Practice – Jan Sat 17th 10:00 – 14:00
Working with a tutor you will complete creative and technical exercises and make a series of images.
Session 3. Basic Editing and Feedback – Jan Weds 21st 19:00 – 21:00
In the last session you will learn how to select and enhance your images.
Participants will have opportunities to share and discuss their edited images and get professional feedback from tutors.
