BIAD, The Parkside Building, Birmingham
Photographs by Phil Thomson / Dundee / November 1968
Open Monday to Friday between 10am and 6pm.
A visual record by one man of one city on one day.
A series of metre square block mounted black and white photographs taken by Phil Thompson in 1968 in Dundee, all on the same day.
These provide a snap shot image of Dundee: they are both a social and architectural/urban planning documentary of a city in transition, trapped in that post war WW2 dilemma of preserve or destroy – tradition v modernity – community v pragmatism.
Curated by Richard Snell and photographed by Phil Thomson, both talented Birmingham Institute of Art and Design staff.
